If you would like some food for thought, I've attached the conference paper I presented in 2013 on stitching and suffering in literature. The thoughts presented in this paper have undergone significant revision over the past eight years, although they did form the basis of the article I published in Studies in Popular Culture and are the backbone of my larger manuscript project.
